Lucent Inc, an American solar cell and module manufacturer, announces that it has supplied 4.2MW of PV modules that have been installed on the rooftop of a British logistics distribution center in the East Midlands of England, at Castle Donington. This is the one of the largest single roof installation for solar in the UK.
The project was engineered by Sonic Renewables who chose Lucent Solar modules. Noah Mulkern, Technical Director of Sonic, commented: “Lucent modules are recognized for their leading performance especially at lower levels of irradiation, which is important when deploying them on gently inclined rooftops such as this.”
The installation is already connected to the grid. Spread across 700,000 sq ft with more than 13,200 Lucent Solar LX320M-60 Supreme Mono PV modules, the project will generate over 3,500 MWh of electricity per year, and sufficiently power 25% of the power of company's fully automated distribution center, reducing the company's carbon footprint by 33,000 tonnes over the next 20 years.
Stefan Wohlauf, Vice President Europe Sales of Lucent Solar, said: “In the following years, by incorporating more innovative technologies to make our PV modules more efficient, reliable, sustainable and in particular, adapted to local requirements, Lucent Solar aims to help more clients reduce electricity cost with clean solar energy.
